Join our team and help us make a positive difference to the University as an experienced Data Center Infrastructure Administrator! As an influential team member of OIT’s Data Center Administration line, you will provide technical guidance to recommend, design, and operate a stable hardware infrastructure environment. You will work closely with collaborative cross-unit teams who make up the entire IT stack to achieve shared goals and consult with IT leadership to implement and continually improve upon the strategy and existing infrastructure practices for data center spaces in support of the core mission of the University. This position requires the ability to operate within industry-standard practices, adapt to and quickly learn new processes and technologies, and handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and minimal oversight.

- Implement and maintain moderately complex data center infrastructure systems.
- Coordinate within cross-functional teams to support and maintain the data center
- environments. Adhere to industry standard hardware installation and cabling practices.
- Provide enterprise level data center administration support. Fulfill the role of tier 3 for escalated service desk support.
- Collaborate with team members and customers to ensure functional service requirements are met with proper technical resources and are in alignment with the infrastructure strategies supporting the University.
- Generate post-mortem reports detailing the root cause and process modification in response to service outages/failures.
- Promote industry standard data center infrastructure management (DCIM) practices.
- Maintain environments that adhere to audit compliance (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI as required).
- Participate in on-call rotation, which involves carrying a communication device and includes the expectation to respond during non-business hours to resolve production problems and perform scheduled off-hour activities.
- Keep current on industry standards, emerging technologies, and services.
- Supervise the day to day interaction with student workers.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience with the industry standard layout of equipment in a data center space to maximize the efficiency of facility resources.
- Experience in Data center infrastructure management (DCIM) disciplines and software.
- Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, alarm and fire suppression systems.
- In depth understanding of industry standard security and auditing frameworks. Experience with translating and integrating security standards into the design and operations of infrastructure solutions.
