We are hiring an

Engineering Technician in

Minneapolis, MN! This position will be supporting systems test and validation activities of Thermo King products within our Engineering Lab on customer applications and vehicles. Attention to detail, self-motivated and a strong mechanical/ electrical troubleshooting are key attributes a successful candidate must possess. This role will utilize computer systems to perform the work so familiarity with basic computer programs (Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook) is required. Engineering Technicians perform a variety of tasks in support of Thermo King (TK)engineering and its end customers with respect to validation of product performance and design. This validation is done early on in support of New Product Development as well as post-sale support of customer units in service.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, assembling and servicing of Thermo King products
  • Operate Thermo King environmental testing systems for drivein systems simulation chambers
  • HVACR unit capacity and airflow characterization
  • Fabricate custom air flow ducting as necessary for airflow testing and analysis.
  • Applying instrumentation to measure product and system application performance (thermocouples, transducers, flow meters, etc.)
  • Increase technical skills/knowledge of TK products/processes
  • Identify both shortterm and long-term corrective actions to address safety issues
  • Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement within current lab processes
  • Seek opportunities to take lead on department project(s)/ initiative(s)
  • Work directly with customers to evaluate requirements, troubleshoot customer test platforms, author test reports, and provide test results
  • Collaborate with others on engineering projects, designs, and process improvements
  • Install and evaluate new product designs and provide feedback to engineering about design improvements
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and make repairs on both low (50 volt or less) and high voltage (over 50 volts) systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair TK products including refrigeration system, electrical system, fuel system, and control systems

Qualifications:

  • This role requires five or more years of relevant industry experience (technical associate degree preferred).
  • Refrigerant license 608 & 609 is preferred but the ability to obtain a license shortly after hiring is acceptable.
  • The ability to interpret and use mechanical drawings is required.
