Job Descriptions:Join our team at the recently opened Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis Mill District! We are seeking a talented and skilled preventative and in-room maintenance professional to join our hotel engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help maintain overall building facilities, including HVAC, fire/safety systems, in-room repairs and service. This is a full time position averaging 35-40 hours per week; 7-day availability is strongly preferred. 6 months - 1 year of general maintenance / carpentry experience including general wall repair, electrical, plumbing, etc. What are we looking for?We are looking for prior customer service experience and a passion for helping others. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Core Responsibilities
General maintenance and upkeep responsibilities including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light carpentry and painting
Responds to open work orders and resolves requests within 24 hours
Assists in scheduling and completing preventive maintenance for buildings and building equipment
Hands-on work of all building repairs, preventative maintenance and general upkeep of the facility with special attention to more involved operations or projects
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
Walks property at regular intervals (daily) to ensure that the property is clean and orderly and in good maintenance condition
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Other tasks as assigned including: plumbing, blueprint, electrical, city codes, environmental initiative and tracking
Maintains exterior grounds and interior common areas in quality, presentable condition. This will include but is not limited to the following:
Picks up trash and keep common areas neat
Sweeps walks and curbs
Waters lawn, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds
Shovels walks, sand or salt icy areas
Performs year-round grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal
Completes additional duties as assigned

Works as a team player and interacts with all internal and external customers in a friendly/efficient manner
All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction
Always strive to exceed guest expectations and meet brand standards
Accountability
Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work duties
Adheres to Sherman Associates attendance policy, grooming and appearance standards, general work rules, and department procedures
Maintains a clean and safe work environment, follows all procedures for guests and employee incidents and is knowledgeable for hotel emergency procedures
Attends all required department and hotel meetings
Maintains customer service and excellent relations with guests, hotel employees, vendors and other external or internal organizations
Keeps management informed at all times in the areas of: property conditions, guest complaints, and suggestions for improvement of property performance
Regularly coordinates room inspections in partnership with management
Must be respectful of guest privacy
Responsible for sustainability recording and analysis
Other tasks & duties as assigned based on business need; Evening and weekend rotations as required
Required Experience:
6 months - 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance or related carpentry/construction. Ideally in hospitality or a related industry
Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multilingual environment
Special boilers license or willingness to obtain one, if applicable

Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
Frequent exposure to the outdoors is common, including wind, snow/ice, and rain
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
