OverviewAre you an outgoing individual with a passion for helping patients? We're looking for a Nursing Station Technician (NST) to join the team on our new and exciting med/surg unit on our West Bank of the University of Minnesota Medical Center, located in Minneapolis, MN!All former patient care backgrounds are welcome to apply!This position will be working 56 hours every two weeks on the day shift , 8 hour shifts and every other weekend . The position is eligible for benefits.About this unit:This is a 24 bed med/surg unit with patients experiencing a range of conditions, including but not limited to:

Sepsis

Overdoses/Withdrawals

Surgical procedures

Telemetry

Diabetes

Pneumonia

Altered mental status (AMS)

We are conveniently located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis.Responsibilities Job DescriptionIn this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:

Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding

Setting up and maintaining patient rooms

Ordering and stocking of suppliesa

Answering telephone calls as able

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:RequiredLicense/Certification/Registration

Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program

AND ONE or more of the following:

Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.

OR

Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

OR

Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

OR

Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
