Delta Air Lines, Inc. seeks a Portfolio Architect. This role is in Atlanta, GA or Minneapolis, MN

The Portfolio Architect will implement solutions across Delta IT, focusing on modernizing test environment, data, and performance engineering. The airline industry comprises complex systems where integration across systems and data consistency can significantly impede testing and pipeline efficiency. We seek an architect passionate about making testing a competitive edge in the cloud model and helping us realize the full benefit of it.

The portfolio Architect will build alignment across the team and deploy solutions built on cloud principles to accelerate speed to test and market. The ideal candidate must have hands-on AWS experience to drive organizational maturity.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy integration of AWS cloud and hybrid applications applying forward-looking cloud principles for development and testing needs.
  • Deliver architectural solutions and mitigate issues for cloud infrastructure delivery by working closely with application teams.
  • Build Cloud Foundation to establish necessary building blocks for delivering Infrastructure.
  • Formulate and lead modernized architecture strategy for test environment and data.
  • Bridge integration gaps between cloud and on-prem to mitigate environment and data inconsistencies.
  • Analyze on-prem application landscapes to refactor solutions for applications in hybrid posture.
  • Architect & automate templates using Infrastructure as a code and Configuration as a code.
  • Build patterns and templates to instrument consistent and automated testing solutions for data creation, mocking, virtualization, and performance engineering.
  • Learn, own, and troubleshoot test environment and data issues across applications on AWS and on-prem.
  • Determine performance KPIs and mitigate performance blockers.
  • Collaborate with SRT in deploying resiliency engineering and monitoring in AWS.
  • Drive alignment across workstreams, guilds, and communities to embrace and propose cloud solutions.
  • Perform road shows to disseminate ideas and solutions across product teams.
  • Engage in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and hackathons.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 6+ years of working software architect experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and delivering in AWS
  • Deep understanding of AWS such as IAM, VPCs, Landing Zones, Control Tower, CloudFormation, EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, S3, RDS, Route53, Lambda, AWS Config, etc.)
  • Ability to integrate any combination of these services into iMac around other AWS Services (S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, etc.)
  • Fluency with one or more scripting/coding languages such as Java, JavaScript, REST, JSON, Python, Bash
  • Experience implementing and leveraging the logging and monitoring solutions
  • Experience in cloud-native architectures and micro-services design
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
