About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Counsel in Legal as part of the Enterprise Regulatory & Policy team of the Regulatory & Risk Division. For additional information on this line of business, refer to the external Careers Site at Wellsfargo.com/career.This Senior Lead Counsel role will provide legal support for enterprise regulatory remediation activities. The Senior Lead Counsel will serve as a trusted legal advisor and strategic partner to senior leaders in the supported functions.In this role you will:
Provide practical and legal advice to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders related to regulatory remediation and maintain an integrated and strategic perspective on regulatory remediation issues across the enterprise
Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external constituencies, including senior business leaders, Risk, Compliance and Audit executives, and regulators
Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners and peers associated with the function or affected by its outcomes
Apply cross-disciplinary or specialty expertise proactively to manage the most complex legal and regulatory issues
Expertly handle matters that have a significant impact on the Company's operations, strategies, or profitability
Develop relationships with and provides guidance to senior leadership, including executive officers, on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the Company
Recognized as an expert in highly complex areas of the law, having demonstrated the ability to address significant legal matters, which may span multiple business lines and practice groups
Collaborate within the department and across business and staff functions to address legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with the best interests of Wells Fargo
Take an active role in the development of more junior staff
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Active State Bar Membership
Desired Qualifications:
7+ years of practicing as an attorney with a major law firm, financial services regulatory agency or self-regulatory organization, or in-house law department
Preferred experience with regulatory change management and cross-business, complex regulatory implementation, and advocacy
Experience engaging with trade associations, regulators and other policymakers
Effectively partnering with stakeholders such as Government Relations and Public Policy, Compliance, Risk, and the business to achieve regulatory change goals
Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with stakeholders, including senior business leaders, to achieve consensus and accomplish business goals
Extensive experience conducting research, analyzing legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and providing counsel and effective guidance on complex legal matters
Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team
Knowledge and understanding of compiling and preparing executive summaries, whitepaper, and presentations for management/senior leaders
Ability to lead during times of ambiguity and change
Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters
Experience working with changing priorities and deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
