This person will support several attorneys at Tentinger Law Firm, a small firm in Apple Valley MN. This is a full-time position and requires a motivated, well-organized person with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience. The primary focus is on Family Law and Estate Planning, Business Law and litigation, Personal Injury, and Insurance Defense. Candidate should be comfortable in a high-paced work environment and have impeccable attention to detail. Effective communication skills are essential.

Paralegal Responsibilities include:

Create, maintain and manage client files in central Time & Billing system, electronic file, and hardcopy file

Draft and prepare for filing and service legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda

Draft, prepare and compile discovery responses

Coordinate law office activities such as client appointments, service of process, subpoenas, delivery of documents, etc.

Request and organize medical records and bills

Conduct legal research “ people, medical, scientific, technical, product information

Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, etc.

Schedule depositions, communicate with court reporters to schedule, confirm and request transcripts

File and serve court documents; e-file state and federal court documents, confirm payment of filing fees

Locate and schedule witnesses for depositions

Trial preparation including coordinate witnesses, prepare and organize trial exhibits and trial binders

Maintain and manage law firm attorney billable time and expenses in central Time & Billing system

Prepare and send monthly client invoices, and receive and record payments

Transcribe attorney dictation

Draft and prepare estate documents, including wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives and print using specialized paper

Office Manager Responsibilities include:

Manage office mail, which may include trips to post office

Maintain and manage office central calendar

Manage submissions of staff timesheets and time out of the office

Maintain and order supplies

Maintain entire office area so it is presentable to clients and staff

Education and Experience:

Bachelor degree, Associates degree; paralegal certification

Knowledge of legal principles and practices, research techniques, terminology, and legal communication principles and practices

Relevant computer knowledge and experience, which includes knowledge of Adobe, Word and Excel
