Description: What is the specific title of the position? DB2 Developer Work location? Telecommute Work hours? 8-5CST Migrating from an IBM Netezza (Mako) PureData environment to an IBM DB2 Sailfish appliance. Work would include migrating and updating to DB2 compliance existing infrastructure, data, ETL jobs to new environment. Please describe the team the candidate will be working with - how many members? Approx. 5 immediate team members, 2 DBAs and 2 ETL developers, one contractor familiar with Sailfish. Broader team includes functional areas of Campaign, Reporting and Analytic personnel 8 people. What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position (please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)? Ability to analyze existing code and modify w.r.t db2 with strong background in database programming using DB2/SQL (i.e., stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages). Ability to demonstrate understanding of database concepts (i.e., normalizations/de-normalizations, schemas, table spaces, temporary tables, views, indexes, sequences, partitioning, UDF and Triggers etc). Tuning techniques to prevent performance degradation and understanding on how to use Explain Plan/Query Analyzer/Optimization Tool. IBM DB2 Stored Procedures - Research, gather and analyze information. PL/SQL Programming (IBM DB2), Unix. Working experience in database security, primarily on encryption and decryption concepts is plus. Strong experience with performance tuning for PLSQL coding. Ability to translate business requirements into technical design documents. Good knowledge of UDF's/UDA's, cursors, functions, views, materialized views indexes, collections, triggers What does the ideal candidate background look like: Ideally someone that has actually done a Mako to Sailfish migration or something similar. What skills/attributes are required ? Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist with migration from an IBM Netezza (Mako) PureData appliance to an IBM DB2 Sailfish environment.
  • Responsible for converting and moving existing data infrastructure and ETL jobs to new environment.
  • Responsible for developing, updating, and testing production code.
  • Consistently creates optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems.
  • Makes sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront.
  • Takes feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standards. Conducts code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures.
Required Skills/Experience
