Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Develop a deep end-to-end understanding of data strategy, structure and overall use within the business
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and technical teams regarding enhancements, changes, issues and defects that may impact development, data, workflow and/or functionality
  • Oversee day-to-day ETL processes - job monitoring, issue identification, documentation, analysis and resolution
  • Respond to production issues in a timely manner for a number of critical deliverables related to daily and month-end reporting to UHG business and regulators
  • Drive completion of projects and initiatives, follow through on execution of strategies and demonstrate ability to stay the course despite obstacles
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with standard operating policies and procedures
  • Drive root cause analysis and long-term solution for critical and high impact data processing issues
  • Application monitoring and performance tuning to meet SLA performance
  • Provide forecasts (Work Estimates) and plan resource requirements
  • Problem/Incident management involves working with cross-functional and/or cross-segment teams to solve unique/complex problems that have broader impact to the business
  • Coordinate special ad-hoc processing to support business needs
  • Provide defect resolution/workaround
  • Responsible for release management which includes review of implementation plan, completion of operation readiness checklist, participation of release coordination meeting and code package deployment
  • Code tuning, and management of development efficiency-related project activities
  • Ensure high quality & best in class methodology processes are being used
  • Establish clean database environment with proper relationship diagrams, data mapping, & indexing
  • Design ETL (extract/transform and load) processes to populate database tables
  • Key contributor in requirements definition of most complex business initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams that include Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Analysts, Product Leads/Owners and Business Stakeholders
  • Performance management, operational metrics development and recommending infrastructure improvements
  • Works at highest technical advisory level on the most difficult analysis and design assignments
Positions in this function are responsible for the management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building business intelligence tools, conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations and assuring data quality. Depending on the specific role and business line, example responsibilities in this function could include creating specifications to bring data into a common structure, creating product specifications and models, developing data solutions to support analyses, performing analysis, interpreting results, developing actionable insights and presenting recommendations for use across the company. Roles in this function could partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization. Other roles involved could include producing and managing the delivery of activity and value analytics to external stakeholders and clients. Team members will typically use business intelligence, data visualization, query, analytic and statistical software to build solutions, perform analysis and interpret data. Positions in this function work on predominately descriptive and regression-based analytics and tend to leverage subject matter expert views in the design of their analytics and algorithms. This function is not intended for employees performing the following work: production of standard or self-service operational reporting, casual inference led (healthcare analytics) or data pattern recognition (data science) analysis; and/or image or unstructured data analysis using sophisticated theoretical frameworks.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced changing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • 5+ years SQL coding experience
  • 5+ years knowledge and use of the ETL tools - SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • 5+ years SDLC Experience - promoting SQL code and SSIS packages though Dev/Test/Stage/Prod environments
  • 5+ years code automation/job scheduling (i.e.Tivoli)
  • 3+ years of experience leading business data transformation programs / initiatives
  • 3+ years Teradata coding experience
  • 3+ years SSRS coding experience
  • 2+ years healthcare technology background
  • 2+ years working in an agile project methodology
  • 2+ years working in a waterfall project methodology
  • 2+ years version control using Github and XL-Deploy

  • 3+ years SAS coding experience
  • 3+ years Stars Analytics experience
  • 2+ years System Analyst/Solution Architect experience
  • 2+ years working in a Big Data Environment(Hadoop/Hive)
