6 month contract to hire REMOTE Great benefits! Description: Job Position Title: DevOps Engineer Where is the work to be performed: Eden Prairie, MN or Telecommute. Open to 100% remote. Can you please provide a summary of the project/initiative which describes what's being done: Develop an open source enterprise platform to enable event-based self-service automation and remediation of incidents. TOP REQUIREMENTS: a. 4+ years of experience in Python b. 4+ experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins c. 7+ years experience in a variety of modern programming languages (GoLang, Perl, JavaScript, C/C, etc) What experience will set candidates apart from one another? Experience in infrastructure automation. Cannot provide sponsorship upon conversion. Please describe the team the candidate will be working with - how many members and what is the break-down of the teams skill sets (ex: 1 PM, 4 Developers, etc.)? 1 PM, 4 developers, 1 sys admin What does the ideal candidate background look like (ex: healthcare specific background, etc.)? Multiple programming languages, but recent experience and emphasis on Python, familiarity and use of open source platforms, experience mentoring junior resources What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position? (Please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis): Develop event-based integrations between vendor tool APIs and automation frameworks, both for legacy as well as cloud environments Create and executes against a plan to develop, launch, and maintain off the shelf and proprietary automation tools/frameworks that can be consumed by internal infrastructure teams Review project objectives and determine best technology for implementation Work with internal and external developers to create code standards and best practices and ensure they are adhered to Identify opportunities in business processes, system capabilities and delivery methodologies for continuous improvement as applicable Provide ongoing expertise to operational support groups (e.g., Systems Support) in order to address identified application problems/issues, as requested, and help to provide root cause analysis Support, design and improve on monitoring, alerting and tooling/framework efforts Ability and willingness to augment current expertise with new open source or targeted vendor technologies What skills/attributes are required (Please be detailed as to number of years of experience)? 7+ years or more of full lifecycle development experience 4+ years of experience in Python 2+ years exposure/experience with RESTful APIs 4+ experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins Experience in a variety of modern programming languages (GoLang, Perl, JavaScript, C/C, etc) Proven track record of coaching / mentoring junior development resources What skills/attributes are preferred (will set a candidate apart)? VM and container platform experience (VMWare, K8s, Docker, Openshift) Experience with infrastructure automation using Orchestration Tools (i.e. StackStorm) SDLC experience in an Agile environment Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) Knowledge of and experience with Splunk or TIG stack Knowledge of and experience using public cloud providers (AWS, Azure) Software architecture concepts Network familiarity System admin experience (Windows & Linux) What are the work hours? (ex. 9am-5pm, day/night shifts, rotating shifts, etc) Standard 40 hour work week, 9am-5pm What does the interview process look like? o How many rounds? 2 o Video, phone, or in person?
