Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Leads the Production Planning and Scheduling team responsible for developing and executing production plans to maintain targeted inventory levels for finished goods (shoes and leather) to meet business demand and Company objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILIES

  • Identifies and anticipates inventory availability constraints across the network. Liaison with functional areas to articulate inventory availability, concerns, and potential solutions.
  • Manages scheduling tools, processes and metrics related to Production Scheduling processes across all manufacturing including tanneries.
  • Functional expert representing Production Scheduling processes on company initiatives and new product launches.
  • Proactively develop team & others within the Supply Chain organization through coaching, mentoring, sharing best demonstrated processes and knowledge transfer.
  • Work closely with Brand leadership, Demand Planning and Strategic Sourcing partners analyzing future and past inventory and communicating results of inventory level changes to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Develop best practices on daily scheduling, leveraging capacity capabilities to the fullest, make to order opportunities, lead times, etc. that can be utilized by manufacturing locations
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning team to analyze and update forecast information leveraging all available systems and resources.
  • Lead and ensure the utilization of our manufacturing capacity tools utilizing M3 and Logility for all manufacturing facilities.
  • Work closely with the Plant Managers to help ensure optimization of labor resources.
  • Track and analyze physical inventory data (safety stock) and variances and recommend course of action to Plant Managers to correct or improve inventory levels.
  • Recommend scheduling adjustments as needed to assure proper inventory levels (e.g., OT, line shut-downs) and alignment with strategic goals. Support and/or plan cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
  • Implement Lean Material Flow
  • Communicate status and relevant information to the appropriate groups within the company.
  • Develop, update and assure utilization of SOP’s for planning and scheduling processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional process improvement teams with mapping, root cause identification and transformation.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organizational quality system standards.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and seven to ten years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALICATIONS

  • Supply chain leadership experience including “tactical” planning and cross-functional dependencies (knowledge of footwear terms and processes a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adjust to the audience
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Drive for results and superior execution
  • Strong Lean background with material flow experience
  • Systems savvy including Microsoft Office and MRP (Infor M3 preferred)
  • Strong analytical Skills

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • APICS and CPIM certification a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • High percentage of time spent in Factory and Office environment
  • Provide support for 3 shift manufacturing processes
