Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Apply technical skills to effectively repair shoes that meet customer expectations as well as personal and departmental performance objectives for safety, quality, cost, service and people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive and inspect worn shoes, determine if the shoe can be repaired per the customer request and assure proper communication of status.

  • Receive phone orders for modifications and special repairs from dealers. Enter orders into Movex to request new shoe be sent from warehouse. Once the boot is received, perform specified modifications per customer request.

  • Perform a variety of shoe repair functions using shoe manufacturing/repair equipment such as: bandsaw, sanders and grinders, sole stitchers, inseamers, cobbling tools, sewing equipment, and other specialized equipment/hand tools.

  • Perform sole tear-off process to prep the boot for the bottoming process and perform the bottoming operation to properly replace soles in the manufacturing plant.

  • Answer calls regarding shoe repair from consumers and dealers, provide repair status and ensure good customer experience.

  • Ensure results that meet customer expectations and achievement of personal as well as departmental performance objectives for safety, quality, cost, service and people.

  • Effectively work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members to achieve positive results.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSC’s electronic communication software.

  • Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organization quality system standards.

  • Uphold Red Wing Shoe Company’s core values.

  • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time.

  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, classes, or programs.

  • Conduct yourself according to RWSC policies, procedures and expectations.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work flexible work hours.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a light industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Shoe construction or repair experience

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Customer service driven.

  • Attention to detail and quality

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain a team environment.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and E mail
