Job Description Summary Travelers is seeking a Lead Technology Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Cloud Services (ICS) organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. The Lead Engineer will complete advanced end-to-end engineering and development tasks for specific system assignments including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting and implementation, based on user or system specifications, consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications, managing interaction between the systems and other technical support areas and defining technical requirements and coordinating team resources to solve problems.

The key areas of accountability include to the following:1. Support the build out of new and existing services as well as assist our customers with migrating application to the cloud, leveraging their knowledge of application development. 2. Serve as our primary technical service concierge by providing design consulting and bridging any gap that may exist for our internal customers in leveraging our primary cloud platforms. 3. Assist in designing and engineering solutions and aiding developers to have a strong understanding of our business' cloud strategy and application portfolio. 4. Drive migrations of internal applications within Infrastructure Application portfolio to cloud.

Under limited supervision, responsible for the successful design, planning, and deployment of architectures and technologies used with each service delivery organization (SDO). Works collaboratively with engineer s across SDOs to proactively identify ways to improve and optimize the entire environment, through tactical recommendations and strategic plans. Responsible for collaborating with peers to develop comprehensive solutions across ICS. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops strategic solutions that align with the business objectives and architectural direction of the organization.
  • Drives the design and ensures delivery of departmental and corporate programs.
  • Designing, developing and implementing cloud solutions on multiple platforms and multiple cloud providers
  • Provide expertise to the Cloud teams as well as the Lines of Business application development teams
  • R&D for new cloud solutions and components
  • Integration of cloud solutions with new emerging open standards
  • Support efforts to accelerate application modernization and movement to the cloud
  • Leverages infrastructure technology to develop and/or redesign technology solutions.
  • Builds, leverages and maintains effective alliances across technical and business community.
  • Interacts with customers, vendors, and leadership to achieve effective, strategic, and fiscally responsible results.
  • Seen as a technical expert across the organization and the industry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, plus five years of experience in Technology required;
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in CS or a related field and three years of work experience in Technology.
  • One year of experience as a technical lead required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Nine years of experience in Technology preferred.
  • Three years of experience as a technical lead preferred.
  • Experience migrating applications to the cloud
  • Experience with the SDLC
  • Advanced Cloud Provider Certifications preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as Network, Database, Server, Storage etc. preferred.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Expert knowledge of one or more: Go/Python/.NET Core /MVC/ WebAPI/ Razor/JavaScript/HTML/CSS/C#/Java
  • Strong understanding of foundational Cloud Infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of one or more public cloud providers: AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Strong Understanding of databases mySQL, MongoDB or SQL Server
  • Experience with integrating with Security services like Okta, Tokens, SSL Certificates
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and/or Config Management Systems: Terraform, CloudForms, Chef, Puppet, Ansible
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines including source code repositories: Jenkins, UCD, ArgoCD, Git, BlackDuck, Prisma
  • Understanding of Network technologies such as load balancers and firewalls
  • Familiar with Public Cloud providers services and platforms.
  • Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiar with API Management systems
  • Familiar with multiple O/S
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies
