Data Engineer, St. Paul, MN

Kelly Services is seeking a Data Engineer responsible for building, expanding and optimizing our data platform and data pipelines, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams internally and with external clients/customers. Requires utilizing cutting edge data processing techniques to improve accuracy and performance of data and infrastructure, including data science techniques for one of our top clients in St. Paul, MN.

A Day in the Life:
  • Design, develop, configure, test, and debug data integrations.
  • Design and lead complex reporting solutions using standard enterprise reporting tools (SSRS) as well as other custom tools as needed. Assists co-workers in using data and enterprise technologies to support corporate policies, processes and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams in process and project execution and schedules, status reporting, and issue/risk management alignment.
  • Work with internal business and technology resources as well external resources (e.g., customers) to understand and document requirements, proposed data solutions and designs.
  • Support projects and run the business activities by delivering defined scope for new and existing assets while following development standards for design, coding, migration and scheduling as well as corporate and legal compliancy guidelines.
  • Serves as a representative and liaison to the rest of the organization providing consistency of contact, positive representation of Information Security, and confirmation that solutions are (a) regarded as standards of good practices in the industry and (b) aligned with corporate and IT strategy and follows standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees and executes the day-to-day operations of the processes within scope which may include participation in an on-call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours.
  • Shares knowledge by creating and maintaining detailed, comprehensive documentation and diagrams.
  • Facilitates successful audit and assessments by providing evidence.
  • Create and maintain data pipelines Build and maintain the foundational AWS technologies of our Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
  • Foundational AWS cloud technologies include but not limited to S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift and QuickSight.
  • Identify, design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using AWS technologies.

Required Skills and Experiences:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or other quantitative field required.
  • 0-3 years' experience in a Data Engineer role required.
  • Knowledge of git is required.
  • Working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases required.
  • Experience with Python is a plus.
  • Experience with Data Modeling concepts is a plus.
