The Commercial Controls team has a great opportunity for someone who is looking to build their career with Trane! This role is highly collaborative, interacting with product management, application engineering and sales offices across North America at every level. This is a hybrid role based in St Paul, MN.

Job Summary The key focus of this role is to support and develop controls sales thru all sales channels of Trane Commercial Sales Offices, and other distribution channels that are part of the order acquisition organization. Individual must have strong controls product and technical knowledge, and strong knowledge of project specifying and bidding practices, as well as the interpersonal skills to manage a partnering relationship with the field sales organization.

Responsibilities: The sales support team has many responsibilities. Some examples of potential responsibilities for this particular role may include the following:
  • Grow the controls to contractor market through the Management of the Applied System Contractor Program
  • Host Customer Visits - Coordinate and provide customer presentations regarding the value of trane controls, product demonstrations and factory tours.
  • Key Customer Support - Work with the field sales teams to interface with key customers to ascertain business goals, customer needs, and define successful solutions.
  • Sales Support - Provide accurate and timely sales support for the field on controls and controls/equipment projects, including but not limited to job strategy, presentation help, cybersecurity and competitive insight. Work with the field on project-by-project pricing strategies to support key accounts, target project strategies, and do effective backlog management.
  • Sales Tools Development - Specify and develop sales tools or sales tool enhancements as needed to support growth objectives. Tools would include Trane reference database, product demos, customer presentation templates, competitive analysis, etc.
  • Sales Training - Assist with the development and delivery of sales training, including selling strategies and product training to sales organization. Other training supported would include established sales training programs, webinars, sales seminars, etc.
  • Product Management Interface - Work with Product Management groups to provide input on product line needs and product positioning including pricing strategies to deliver a competitive total installed cost solution.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HVAC industry experience with a strong focus on Building Control Systems/EMS & HVAC Systems with some sales or business development experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of productivity, manage multiple competing priorities, and work effectively under the pressure of time constraints in a complex, collaborative, and team-oriented environment
  • Ability to travel 25%-35% of the time

Key Competencies:
  • Technical experience with building control systems and applications for commercial buildings and HVAC.
  • Highly self-directed individual with the ability to plan activities and achieve results.
  • Good business communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
