Pharmacy Medication History Interns do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.Additional accountabilities will include:

General knowledge of the principles and practices of professional pharmacy

Knowledge of generic and brand name terminology

Knowledge of pharmacological and legal classification of drugs

Knowledge of medical terminology and medical abbreviations

Knowledge about calculating medication doses.

Ability to establish successful contacts with the public and hospital personnel that are simple advisory, explanatory and interpretive in nature

Ability to deal with a variety of patients in a wide range of stressful situations

Ability to utilize resources available to assist in pharmaceutical care

Knowledge of the laws relating to pharmacy practice

Knowledge of hospital or retail pharmacy’s procedures for filling, dispensing and billing prescriptions.
