GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Quality NACE Inspector to join our Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group located in Tupelo, MS. Under limited supervision this position is responsible for inspecting preservation and coatings applications to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications, military standards, and established quality requirements. Assignments are at times are non-routine where judgment and assessment are required to resolve moderately complex issues.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspects parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory guidelines (Naval Ship’s Technical Manuals (NSTM), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), other Military Standards, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC), and ASTM.

Sets up, operates, inspects, tests, and adjusts new and reworked corrosion control equipment to achieve conformance to engineering drawings and Marine Coating specifications.

Provides various electronic and hard copy reports (Objective Quality Evidence (OQE)) of inspections and notifies appropriate parties including project engineers.

Inspects parts at receiving to ensure conformance to established requirements.

Sets up, operates, and interprets results for preservation related measuring and test equipment.

Maintains computer databases.

Conducts testing, provides oversight and direction, as necessary, to ensure compliance with requirements.

Performs all in-process and final inspections to preserved items to ensure compliance with NSTM, NAVSEA, NACE, SSPC, and ASTM standards.

May interact with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and review of company inspections.

May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Performs other duties as assigned or as required.

Typically requires an associate’s degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as SSPC Navy Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI), NACE Coating Inspector Program (CIP), and three or more years of progressive experience in NAVSEA and NSTM Preservation Standards. May substitute additional experience in lieu of formal education.

US Citizenship is required.

Must possess:

NACE Coating Inspector Program (CIP) level I and or II certification;

ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications, and perform mathematical computations;

strong communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees including management;

Subject Matter Expert level of knowledge in NAVSEA Preservation and Coatings Standard 009-32, NSTM Chapter 631, and NSTM Chapter 634;

ability to interpret non-routine information and respond to non-routine issues;

former or current C-7, C-12 and or C-14 SSPC Spray Coatings Applicator Certified and Abrasive Blast Certified is highly desired.

Good computer skills.

The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.

Navy and or Commercial shipyard experience specific to preservation efforts is highly desirable.
