Job Description

The manager for database administration should be familiar with the industry leading relations database systems (RDBMS) such as SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL and the operational aspects of RDBMS systems. The Manager will work closely with engineering, Operations, and other teams to increase stability and reliability of all database infrastructure. The Manager, will be responsibility for planning, directing and coordinating activities pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the database systems. As the leader will be responsible for developing the technical talent while guiding and coaching the team members on architecture, processes, and technologies. Experience with installation, upgrading, and configuring database software, implementing and maintaining complex database security, conducting proactive and reactive database monitoring and maintenance, as well as many other tasks are preferred. The manager should be adept at interacting, communicating, and partnering with the various internal and external teams.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • At least 8 years total combine higher education and related work experience, including:
  • At least 2 years Database, system administration and/or system engineering work experience
  • At least 6 years Higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job Including:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, Mathematics or Operational Research
  • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position
  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of database administration
  • 3+ years of SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017 support
  • 2+ years of client interaction
  • Experience with SQL Server full lifecycle operational support
  • Experience with SQL Server hardening and SQL Server encryption
  • Experience with SQL Server troubleshooting and performance
  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL full lifecycle operational support

Expectations
  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Wiling to work on call shifts as needed
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
