Data management and analytics are growing areas of emphasis across the Federal Reserve System. As a Data Architect within the Data Utility Office (DUO) you will be an integral part of a dynamic team building data centric products (e.g. automated data pipelines, machine learning services) to create new business value. You will lead the end-to-end design and implementation of environments, pipelines and platforms supporting the team's portfolio of data products. You will help establish a technical vision that supports the team's strategy, aligned with enterprise modernization efforts. You will drive accountability and maturity of the team's data management practices and contribution to the enablement of data management across the organization. This role requires versatility, creativity, a growth mindset, a relentless commitment to customer service, and the ability to work well within diverse, cross-functional and virtual teams. Projects will range in duration and complexity, and they will require direct consultation with business partners, technical subject matter experts, and IT service providers.

Key Activities include but are not limited to:
  • Designs technical architectures for solutions (products, services, etc.) using a system/portfolio view.
  • Design and implement data models (Conceptual, Logical, and Physical) to facilitate efficient and effective use of data.
  • Executes and implements portfolio and solution strategies, including hands-on coding and resolving operational issues.
  • Reviews detailed designs and collaborates with the delivery team for best solutions. Drives decisions by following applicable frameworks, patterns, and standards and ensuring that a shared technical and architectural vision is realized.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Architects on business drivers and enterprise strategy to determine the appropriate technical options to meet needs and effectively drive appropriate design tradeoffs and cost/benefit.
  • Establishes and fosters strong relationships with customers, service providers, vendor partners, and technical peers, with special attention to business stakeholders, to ensure understanding of business drivers and strategy.
  • Advises on emerging technologies and modern architecture. Conducts independent research to support business needs while partnering with Enterprise Architecture to validate technologies and align with the enterprise vision.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership to the definition of the technical vision of the data utility office, including technical roadmaps, capability assessments, and tool stack strategies.
  • Design, build, and enhance pivotal architectural tools supporting thriving data ecosystems, such as data pipeline structures, data flow diagrams, metadata management structures, and data linage analyses.
  • Provide technical mentorship to support skill development, with an emphasis on modern engineering patterns and technology.
  • Reviews and analyzes business and technical requirements and implements technical solutions to meet those requirements.

Key Characteristics & Job Requirements:
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience required.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, database design, and data warehouse management strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of applied data management and governance processes, frameworks, and practical implementation approaches strongly preferred.
  • Experience implementing data-oriented products across the data lifecycle strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data architecture across both on-premises and cloud environments, AWS experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in working across teams and organizations to gather requirements and articulate a complex technical vision and approach in a comprehendible manner strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree specializing in a related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience required.
  • United Sates Citizenship is required for this position
  • This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take up to a couple of months to be completed.
