Job Description

Cerner's Business Continuity consulting team is hiring a System Engineer I. This role will primarily be aligned to work with Cerner's 724Access Downtime Viewer and 724Access Ambulatory Viewer solutions. However, consultants may also work with some of Cerner's other business continuity solutions as well. In this role, you will utilize your knowledge of Linux system administration, database technologies, and clinical downtime workflows and use those skills to support clients through project engagements in which these business continuity solutions will be implemented, upgraded, and maintained. The System Engineer I role regularly consults with clients on best practices, issue resolution, and implementation strategies to improve the performance and reliability of our business continuity solutions in our client environments.

In this role, you will consult with clients on implementation and upgrade decisions, and guide clients through interdependencies and decision impacts. You will provide solution oversight and expertise to stakeholders. You will develop and lead deployment strategies for our solutions and provide clients with deployment recommendations. You will drive cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders to identify and propose enhancements to our solutions. You will perform technical troubleshooting and issue resolution and escalate as appropriate. Working Environment Hybrid & Onsite: No Relocation Assistance Offered This position offers a Hybrid & Onsite working environment. Meaning you will split working time between a Cerner office or client site and remote. If your current geographical location requires relocating, Cerner will not offer relocation assistance to the specified location. #LI-Hybrid

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • At least 4 years total combined higher education and related work experience, including:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Linux or other Unix based Operating Systems
  • Understanding of relational database systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Expectations
  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs., i.e. server, network equipment
  • Willing to travel up to 40% - 60% as needed
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
