Position Overview

SS&C is seeking a Software Engineer within our Alternative Investments Client Support Team. This person will provide support for applications deployed in the private cloud. Software Engineers in the Client Support team modify code in local, networked, cloud-based or internet-related applications. They will also learn and support new applications and products as they are built and implemented. Candidates will demonstrate problem solving skills, readiness to collaborate with internal teams including development and business teams, and an ability to design solution fixes and either implement them or collaborate on the implementation. Successful candidates should possess strong technical skills and an ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Skills and Experiences
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information System or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years equivalent work-related experience in a Full Stack Web Support role
  • Experience with a few of the following would be preferred, along with the aptitude to learn the others: Java, JavaScript frameworks such as Angular and ExtJS, HTML/CSS, JUnit, JPA, Spring, NodeJS, and any other modern languages you may work in
  • Additional experience with SQL, YAML, XML, JSON
  • Experience with modern source control tools such as GitHub and ticketing systems such as JIRA or ServiceNow.
  • Experience with bash, Git, Jira, ServiceNow, GitLab, GitHub
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies
  • Exposure to automated testing, BDD (Behavior Driven Development)/TDD (Test Driven Development).
  • Ability to determine root cause of end user reported issues/concerns and provide solutions to mitigate
  • Ability to be proactive, exercise appropriate judgement, and the ability to successfully meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of cloud fundamentals
  • Understanding of Microservices architecture using Spring and Spring Boot technology
  • A passion for continuous learning as well as the ability to learn quickly and apply new skills
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in current processes
  • A team player who communicates and collaborates well with others, both inside and across all related teams. Teams are often co-located - so communication across different cultures and backgrounds is a key for success.

Nice to have skills and experiences:
  • Knowledge of/experience in Financial Services Industry such as alternative investments, mutual funds, stock market, banking or insurance industries
  • Mainframe technical skill set a plus as collaboration across technical teams important:Cobol, DB2, JCL and NDM/FTP, Sterling File Gateway.
