Job Description

The Software Engineer I position is responsible for development, debugging to identify root cause, support and release activities for Cerner's enterprise configuration management system (CMS). You will be part of a Dev/Ops team within Cerner's Enterprise Services organization. This enterprise solution spans on-premise and cloud environments with a heavy focus on data collection, processing and analytics leveraging various Azure cloud services and languages such as Python and SQL. The position is responsible for analyzing data requirements and data sources to identify ingestion and integration methods for consolidation and cataloging of data into the CMS. Identifying process improvements at the team level to support operations and development ecosystem. Collaborating on component level technical designs to help derive additional value from our solutions thus benefitting our business stakeholders that rely upon the data for daily business operations. You will be responsible for creating clear, well-constructed designs and documentation for small and moderate scope stories, writing code and supporting the solutions we manage. You may also participate in architecture discussions, design sessions and code reviews with other associates that help ensure maintainability, application security and performance. As you build your knowledge, you will have opportunities to share outside your immediate team through mentorship, coaching, technical talks and blogs. Working Environment Hybrid or Remote This position offers a Hybrid or Remote working environment. Meaning if you live within a metro area of a Cerner office, you will split working time between a Cerner office and remote. If you are not within a metro area of a Cerner office, you can live and work in your current geographical location and work primarily remote. #LI-Hybrid #Remote

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • At least 4 years total combined higher education and related work experience, including:
      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
        • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position
        • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience in relational database systems
      • Experience with SQL query language
      • Experience with and a passion for data management, data analysis and data integrity
      • Experience in managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Ability and willingness to:
      • Work directly with key business users and stakeholders to gather requirements for integrations
      • Communicate effectively with diverse people and individuals at various levels within the organization
      • Evaluate, communicate and coordinate the technical impacts of application configuration decisions
      • Operate effectively in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision
      • Demonstrated experience with application support and managing Windows and Linux operating systems
      • Experience with a mainstream scripting language (PowerShell, VBS, Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)
      • Ability to learn new processes, tools and technologies (as required)
      • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving abilities
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple applications simultaneously and prioritize work to meet adapting deadlines
      • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
      • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
