This position is responsible for the development of sustainable OLAP reporting solutions to help business verticals run their organization and maximize the utility of Charter's data assets. The Business Intelligence Application Developer II will have a complete understanding of how to leverage the MicroStrategy toolset to build sustainable solutions that are easily consumable information at the reporting layer and maintain a level of expertise on how that information is used in the organization to design, develop, implement, enhance, and support such solutions.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTransform business requirements into sustainable BI solutions through the construction of MicroStrategy reports and dashboardsUnderstand MicroStrategy architecture and how the tool interacts with the data warehouse modelExpertise in transforming data into visually appealing dashboards that are easily consumedProficient in MicroStrategy's mobile dashboarding solutions for iPad and AndroidSuccessfully extend reporting architecture as new areas of functionality are introduced to the warehouse in a sustainable and supportable wayTune mobile and desktop reporting strategy for quick access to information through efficient SQL generation or cubing/caching strategyWrite SQL scripts against the Teradata warehouse to support analysis, discovery, and testing of reportsUnderstand the cable industry and understand business context of the dataUnderstand and execute proper development practices through a standard BI SDLCUnderstand the fundamentals of a dimensional data warehouse model and how to optimize the way data is organized for consumption in MicroStrategySupport and document reports in a way that maximizes end user efficiencyQuickly iterate and prototype on key business initiatives to arrive at a finished product that aligns with end user expectationsContribute reporting ideas and innovations to business customers through deliveryPerform other duties as requestedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and KnowledgeExpertise in the entire MicroStrategy v10 toolset and Teradata 14.10Strong SQL skillsOutstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)Self-motivated with an ability to confidently execute independently with little directionAbility to analyze and apply critical thinking to resolve complex issuesOutstanding organizational skillsStrong problem solving skillsAbility to work well under pressureStrong team and relationship building skillsAbility to prioritize requests and set expectationsDesire to grow/learn/succeedKnowledge in data warehousing concepts and star-schema architectureCable experience strongly preferredMeticulous attention to detailMotivation to stay up-to-speed on industry best practices and new technologiesAptitude to manage delivery of reporting solutionsStrong technical writing skillsConsulting experienceEducationBachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology or business related field, or equivalent experience.Related Work Experience Number Of YearsMicroStrategy report development 3+Data Warehouse design/development 3+SQL Query Design 3+Vacancy expired!
