Internal Position Notes:Location: St Louis, MO 63146/RemoteDuration: 6 monthsData ArchitectDescription:This position is needed to design Data Warehousing solutions to integrate commercial and research data. The successful candidate will know the right technology and match data access patterns with best technology solutions and integrate heterogeneous environment into a single logical data layer. The Data Architect role is responsible for design and development of enterprise-class data solutions. This position will create technical design documents that map source to target, define transformation rules and ensure integration within the data warehouse.The Data Architect will be involved in the design and implementation of a large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse hosted in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), using BigQuery technology. The Data Architect must have expertise with various Data Modeling approaches, including dimensional and 3rd normal form and have expertise with dynamic and complex SQL operations. The Data Architect will be expected to have experience working with a variety Google Cloud Platform services and best practices, specifically around BigQuery, DataFlow, Data Catalog, Cloud Composer and IAM. The Data Architect will participate in the building of large-scale data processing systems, is an expert in data warehousing solutions and should be able to work with the latest database technologies across AWS and Google cloud.Key Responsibilities include:•Design and implementation of Data Warehouse using Google Cloud Platform BigQuery technology.•Define Enterprise Data Model to link commercial and R&D data for BI Reporting and advanced analytical capabilities.•Integrate, transform, validate and reconcile large amounts of data.•Assemble and evaluate data such that new insights, solutions, and visualizations can be derived.•Exploratory data analysis, data cleaning & processing - Perform data discoveries to understand data formats, source systems, etc. and engage with business partners in this discovery process.•Evaluate the limitations of existing data sources and provide recommendations to address unmet data needs•Technologies: BigQuery, Airflow, DataFlow, Kafka, GKE, etc.What you'll need to be successful:•Expertise with Relational Databases such as Teradata, Oracle, Redshift and Postgres•Expertise with various Data Modeling approaches, including 3NF and Dimensional modeling•Ability to solve complex issues with re-usable frameworks•Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, written and oral communication•Strong problem solving and proven project delivery skills•Creative, proactive, bold and out-of-box thinking•Ability to quickly learn technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Apache Beam, and Kafka
