Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Saint Louis, MO

Duration: 18 Months

Job Description:
  • Perform assorted laboratory assays and other miscellaneous duties under general supervision

Essential Functions:
  • Assist scientists with lab trials, testing, and sample preparation
  • Submit incoming chemical Safety Data Sheets for safety review
  • Ensure chemical and sample inventory is up-to-date and compile list of expired chemicals for disposal
  • Create batch labels and stock for all incoming chemicals and samples
  • Prepare samples and paperwork for submission to other labs (TAG/QA, NPAL, etc.)
  • Prepare samples for shipping to external laboratories
  • Maintain accurate records/log of analytical requests and data
  • Effectively communicate results, through written technical documentation and reports
  • Perform all necessary cleaning (i.e. washing glassware) duties
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment
  • Practice safety in the work area

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in cross training as needed as well as learning new skills required due to technology advances
  • Additional duties as assigned

Supervision Given And Received:
  • This position receives direction from the Supervisor

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):
  • Junior & Senior in college or recent graduate
  • Working to attain a degree in the Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Engineering, etc.)
  • Excellent working knowledge of laboratory equipment and GLP's
  • Good teamwork, interpersonal, communication, organization, math and writing skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work at a minimum 24hrs/week

Specialized Knowledge/Skills Preferred but not required:
  • Training/classes in Chemistry/Microbiology
