Applications will remain on file until October 31, 2020.ResponsibilitiesThe Physician will evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to ambulatory adults outpatients at John Cochran Division, Jefferson Barracks Division and/or Community Based Outpatient Clinics with both common and complex illnesses. Duties will include day-to-day care of Veteran patients presenting with ambulatory/primary care appointments. The Physician will provide comprehensive care to a diverse population of Veterans with both common and complex illnesses. The Physician is highly skilled in the provision of primary care, including preventive, chronic and urgent care. The Physician will manage an assigned panel of patients in a team-based practice model, working closely with allied health professionals in an interdisciplinary setting. Opportunities are available to teach residents and medical students. There are limited number of full-time academic positions that may include inpatient duties. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Board certified or board eligible.
