Job Description

LaunchCode Tech Leadership Fellows guide a group of students as their principal education and support point of contact throughout LaunchCode programs, while simultaneously refining their own professional development goals. The team leadership experience will provide the opportunity to grow your own leadership, people management, and group facilitation skills.Tech Leadership Fellows complete 12 hours of paid training in teaching and facilitation fundamentals, project and people management, diversity and inclusion, and community building. Fellows then serve as a team lead in one of LaunchCode's core learning programs (typically 6-8 paid hours per week for 20-40 weeks), while working towards personally-defined career development objectives.

This role reports to the LaunchCode Candidate Engagement Manager.

Position TypePart-Time - Contract

This is a contracted, part-time, paid position for LaunchCode’s LC101 in St. Louis. The class will run for up to 25 weeks, beginning on September 20, 2021 with an estimated end date on March 24, 2022. Class will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30 pm CST. LaunchCode courses are currently running virtually (using Zoom), pending national, state, and local health guidelines and recommendations that indicate it is safe again to hold in-person educational programming. Due to class being virtual, we

are accepting applications from outside of our hub locations. Please note that all course staff would still be expected to be available at the class times listed above.

Tech Leadership Fellows will be paid $12.50/hr and work 8 - 10 hours a week. As part-time contractors, Tech Leadership Fellows are not eligible for employee benefits through LaunchCode

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of back end or full stack web programming concepts
  • Passion for others learning to code
  • Strong communication skills - comfortable leading small groups and/or providing one on one teaching assistance
  • Perception/patience (knowing when a student needs help and guiding them in how to problem solve to find answers)
  • Growth mindset
