What will you be doing?

You will be supporting various areas within end user and network services to enhance and support the Naval Enterprise Network (NEN) environment to test and deliver secure services supporting the Navy mission. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing projects that affect the NEN software, hardware, and network baseline. You will establish project milestones and monitor adherence to project scope, requirements, and schedules to ensure customer-directed milestones are achieved. You will work in a fast paced, time critical environment supporting the warfighter and bringing innovative change and value to the entire Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate team activities to manage and implement project and interrelated projects from initiation to final operational stage.
  • Lead the project team in determining client requirements and translating requirements into operational plans.
  • Plan, schedule, measure, monitor, and report on activities related to the project.
  • Adhere to project management best practices and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Ensure project deliverables and documentation are produced and updated on time.
  • Responsible for planning new projects including developing project schedules and allocating team resources.
  • Maintain project schedules and identify risks to meeting critical milestones.
  • Collect and analyze project metrics for reporting and to inform future projects.
  • Routine communication with the Team Lead to discuss project status, any risks to timely completion, and to recommend alternative approaches to ensure project success.
  • Escalate issues to leadership and track to resolution.
  • Provide weekly status reports and updates, as required.
  • Collaborate with other project managers to deconflict resources.
Requirements:
  • Secret security clearance required with experience working in the DoD environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Project or similar tool for project scheduling.
  • Demonstrated use of project management methodologies in a prior role.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively with people in both management and technical roles as well as customer personnel, as required.
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively across departments to identify requirements and dependencies.
  • Be self-motivated. Must be able to anticipate problems and take a proactive approach to responsibilities.
  • Prior experience performing project management in an IT environment is a plus.
