Performs tasks concerned with the analysis, planning, managing, maintaining, and upgrading of Network and relevant supporting systems and business services; performs various tests and documents results; administers and maintains local and remote systems and services; provides basic technical support and troubleshooting to users; assists in the day-to-day maintenance and operation of all systems; supports the acquisition of hardware and software as needed. Must have ability and motivation to expand technical knowledge and skills through a combination of formal training, self-directed training, and on-the-job-experience. Typical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Understanding of IP subnetting
- Experience in the deployment and maintenance of network equipment. Mainly Cisco routers, switches, access points, firewalls and other network related equipment
- Understanding routing, switching, firewalls, ISE and wireless configurations. Must understand basic configurations and how they operate
- Recommend upgrades, patches, new applications, and equipment.
- Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
- Understanding of network management tools to identify and correct network issues
- Understanding of the telecommunication industry. Experience installing carrier-based services is a plus
- Provide technical support. High level understanding of the environments starting in the data center and continuing to the end user devices.
- Available for after hour support including weekends and holidays
- Occasional travel maybe required. This can include physical demands of lifting equipment into racks and mounting access points
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures with networking.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain networking concepts to non-technical customers
- Strong work ethic with a team first attitude. Willing to take on new challenges and quickly adapt to changing work requirements
- A self-starter with a strong desire to learn.
- Two years of college or equivalent post–high school education or experience
- Minimum 2 year network administration experience
- Familiarity with the principles, methods, and techniques used in Network administration and ability to use relevant hardware, software and other equipment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in managing networks
- Minimum 3 years network administration experience
- CCNA certification
