Data Center Facilities Consultant

Overview

The Facilities Consultant will be responsible for monitoring and directing technical and administrative tasks related to the operation of critical facility infrastructure and assuring compliance with company’s policies and procedures. As a member of the team, you will work alongside experienced Data Center, Network, and Operations engineers to support, maintain, and scale our services. Your primary function will be to ensure that our core infrastructure systems, the systems our Data Centers depend on to do their day-to-day activities, are reliable, robust and can meet the challenges the business demands. The Data Center is a 7x24x365 a year operation.

Responislbities
  • Establish, mentor, and lead a Facility Operations team responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of our critical and non-critical infrastructure systems on the data center campus
  • Partner with technical teams throughout the build phase to ensure operational requirements are met and the buildings are fully ready for operations
  • Identify and promote efficiencies
  • Troubleshoot and Run Diagnostics, Conduct Preventive Maintenance and Emergency Repairs on Critical Facilities Equipment within the Data Center as specified and on schedule
  • Participate in the operations and service on critical systems, including but not limited to; Critical power - low/medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, paralleling switchboards, UPS, PDU, and building monitoring systems
  • Participate in the preparation of analyses and reports on the data center infrastructure, develops project plans and conducts briefings and presentations
  • Ensures that operational, maintenance and emergency methods of procedure (MOP’s and SOP’s) are developed and strictly adhered to
  • Provide oversight with ServiceNow asset database management to ensure all key data asset elements are current
  • Identify required engineering changes in infrastructure systems, define project scope, prioritize projects, schedule, and execute these projects
  • Develop operational standards and methods of procedures for consistency and maximum system reliability
  • Support, coordinate, and monitor vendor activities, ensuring work activities meet scope of work and follow established procedures
  • Find creative solutions to support reduction of operational costs and maximization of infrastructure utilization
  • Prepare facility operations post-incident reports, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans
  • Respond as needed to system after hours maintenance and system complications

Qualifications
  • 3+ years' experience in technology operations, including critical operations
  • 2+ years of relevant / technical knowledge and practical experience of Critical Facilities Operations with Electrical and Mechanical / HVAC equipment such as UPS, generators, switchgears, PDU's, CRAC units and DC power systems
  • Experience in operating, troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical support systems
  • Experience leading a fast paced, hands-on environment
  • Experience making decisions and executing tasks with minimal direction
  • Proven track record of thinking strategically and executing tactically
  • Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards
  • Experience in cross functional, collaborative environments
  • Travel as required
  • (Preferred) Experience with networking principals, firewalls, load balancers, servers and storage
  • (Preferred) Experience with StruxureWare (Schneider Electric)
