Job Description

Our laboratory in Maryland Heights, Missouri provides organic chemistry testing specializing in investigative analytical chemistry. For instance, a winery had a hydraulic leak around its fermentation tanks. We developed a method for testing hydraulic fluid in wine and proceeded to test a number of wine batches to determine which ones were safe for consumers. In another project, we examined different the off-gassing from a medical device constructed with polymeric materials. This was accomplished using SPME.

Job Description

We have an opening for an GC-MS Scientist. The skills and responsibilities include:

  • Design experiments with limited assistance from management and/or experienced scientists
  • Interpret analytical data from GC-MS instrumentation and apply understanding to solving a specific problem
  • Apply additional analytical data from techniques such as LC-MS, FTIR, NMR and ICP in solving a specific problem
  • Write scientific reports fit for the audience that includes specific conclusions, exact methodology, and supporting analytical data
  • Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office (Including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Work comfortably in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines
  • Maintain analytical instrumentation and troubleshoot problems when necessary
  • Author standard operating procedures and demonstrate the ability to follow procedures
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • M.S./Ph.D. in Chemistry

EXPERIENCE

  • 2+years of industrial experience is required
  • Experience with GCMS is required
