Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for strategic alignment and tactical leadership of the IT Quality Assurance team. This role is responsible for supporting the personal growth and development of each team member, building a strong, self-organized team, understanding current state of quality and working with the entire internal IT organization to move toward ideal state. This role is also responsible for managing and communicating budget for technology and contractors, creating roadmaps, visualizing work, managing technology lifecycle, and creating actionable metrics. Further, any successful candidate must be a strong, charismatic leader with demonstrated ability to lead multiple initiatives as well as quickly build and maintain strong relationships with peers and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the IT Quality Assurance team to include hiring, training, developing team members, conducting performance appraisals, and compensation.
  • Grow and develop an engaged team of strong, technical thought leaders.
  • Work toward continuous improvement of the team using a distributed leadership style knowing when and how to effectively delegate.
  • Establish and maintain high trust, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders; understand and act upon mutual needs.
  • Contribute to a shared vision and strategy, lead tactical implementation from beginning to end to end, communicate with clarity, influence others to engage and contribute, and adjust based on feedback.
  • Meet teams where they are and take them to the next step on their quality journey.
  • Provide thought leadership to develop small practice areas into enterprise-level competencies to include performance testing, UAT, API testing, integration testing, and others.
  • Advance quality practices and maturity across multiple technical stacks and develop ability to test systems end to end.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology (MIS, CS, or similar) or equivalent experience.

Experience and Competencies

  • 5+ years of managing technology teams
  • 7+ years of working in a development, dev ops, or test automation capacity
  • 10+ years working in IT
  • Ideal candidate has knowledge of development languages (Java Script, Python), DevOps experience (Jenkins, puppet, CI/CD, GIT, Containers) expert knowledge on testing tools (Octane, Selenium, Cypress.io, UFT)
  • Ideal candidate has experience in unit, API, integration, ERP, SaaS, performance, and UAT testing; exposure to Oracle, SalesForce, ServiceNow, MSFT-PowerApps, WebMethods is a bonus.
  • Experience partnering with development and architecture teams to understand their status and needs around quality and testing, consolidate that information to visualize scalable solutions, and validate and implement those solutions.
  • Understanding of how continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing are vital for Agile and/or Lean development and an absolute passion for realizing the testing pyramid through smart automation and shared ownership.

  • Ability to emotionally manage ambiguity, change, pushback, and failure; show servant leadership, self-awareness, humility, ability to admit fault and learn from failure
