General Summary

Seeking Server Virtualization Systems Administrator. The candidate will have experience demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of key tasks on a large high visibility IT program. Responsible for administration and maintenance activities on VMware virtualization platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Build, configure, monitor, and maintain physical servers to host a virtual server environment

Build, configure, monitor, and maintain storage for virtual servers

Provide tier 2 and 3 supports for escalations from Help Desk

Knowledge and experience troubleshooting VMWare based systems

Participate in on-call rotations

Must be able to support infrequent after hours and weekend escalations as needed (aside from on-call rotation)

Optimize system operations and resource utilization as well as perform system capacity analysis and planning

Manage and monitor the performance, utilization of the various server resources, support the analysis as well as correction of all end-user issues that may be related to the virtualization environment.

Provide support to resolve incident, problem, or service requests that require subject matter expertise and cannot be resolved by the EOC. Task Personnel shall provide final problem resolution.

Contribute to the Root Cause Analysis efforts when applicable.

Provide remote support for OS and standard software build installation activities as required to meet SLAs.

Perform system or component configuration changes necessary to support Server Virtualization products.

Deploy security patches and new software release across the VMware environment and supporting products infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

3-10 years of experience overall and a B.S. degree. Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience.

3+ years of experience related to server hardware administration, particularly Dell PowerEdge and Cisco UCS servers.

2+ years of experience administering VMware vCenter and ESXi 6.5 and higher.

2+ years of experience working with Active Directory and LDAP.

2+ years of Operating system administration (Windows and/or Linux).

Basic networking knowledge & skills.

Must be proficient the use of the Microsoft Office productivity suite.
