Start your journey with us as a Machinery & Equipment Field Engineer.

The Machinery & Equipment Specialties Department is currently seeking to expand our team. We are looking for someone with experience as a machinery and equipment field engineer or someone interested in learning the career and participating in an engineering representative trainee program. This position would service the territory surrounding Billings, MT

Traditional Responsibilities for the Field Engineering Representative\:
  • work closely with our independent agents in the marketing, prospecting, underwriting, claims handling, and servicing of equipment breakdown coverages (EBC).
  • conduct jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections for our EBC policyholders
  • provide EBC claims handling services for our local independent insurance agents and policyholders
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with our local independent agency partners and their clients
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with all CIC local territory associates
  • serve as a technical resource for our internal and external customers regarding machinery and equipment related inquiries
  • offer and provide consultative services that complement our equipment breakdown coverages e.g. loss mitigation programs and services.
  • conduct EBC education and training sessions for our internal and external customers
Qualification:

Field Engineer Trainee Program\:

Starting Salary\: $60,000-$80,000; depending on experience, knowledge and skills

  • possess an engineering/technically based Bachelor's degree or other qualifying boiler & pressure vessel work experience.
  • the ability to work independently to accomplish initiatives
  • strong customer service skills and abilities
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • excellent problem-solving, negotiation, organizational and prioritization skills
  • strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and related software
  • willingness to travel regularly within the territory to meet job demands
  • valid driver's license

Experienced Field Engineer\:

Starting Salary\: $60,000- $100,000; depending on experience, knowledge and skills

  • machinery and equipment experience within a property & casualty insurance company preferred
  • strong knowledge of machinery and equipment, equipment breakdown coverages, corresponding business lines, regulations and consensus standards preferred
  • Bachelor's degree applicable to the position responsibilities or related experience and training
  • possess a National Board commission or have the necessary qualifications to promptly acquire it
  • strong consultative, organizational, and presentation skills
  • demonstrated pursuit of continuing education
