Horse Farm/Ranch Work (Bozeman, MT)

Local horse farm seeking ranch hand for various responsibilities.

Hours will vary from M-F 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM (5-8 hour days, depending on seasonal needs, and great job for someone who likes to work early and play later!) Occasional weekend help with plowing for extra .

Main Responsibilities:

- Daily stall & outside pen cleaning

- Snow Removal (winter)

- Lawn mowing/Landscaping/Winter Prep (spring/summer/fall)

- Checking waters, stacking hay, stacking bedding, sweeping & raking

- Pest removal

- Pressure washing, painting & staining

- Tackling various odd jobs to help clean, organize, and maintain premises under owners wishes

Must have prior experience (2-4 yrs) and able to:

- work with/under direction of general farm manager to complete projects and daily routine

- safely operate skid steer, tractor, UTVs, ATVs, arena drags, manure spreader, riding lawn mowers, weed whackers, brush hogs, pressure washers, etc

- perform basic mechanic skills for small fixes & regular maintenance

- fix fencing repairs and installs

- lift up to 100lbs (stacking hay and other manual labor)

- occasionally lead horses for turnout

- consistently demonstrate common horse sense, safety, and preventive liability

- keep a professional & friendly report with fellow co-workers, boarders, and owners

- work hard labor with no prior physical aliments which would prevent from doing so

- work long hours some days, when the need arises

- hitch up and drive truck/trailers (goose necks or bumper pulls) with live loads

- work independently, be responsible, organized, and careful with farm equipment and tools

- arrive at work 5-10 mins before your scheduled time to start work on time

- posses common horse sense and prior horse experience

- text/use phone for regular communication

Must own a reliable 4WD or AWD vehicle with good tires. Farm is up winter mountain roads that may or may not be plowed yet, and not an excuse to be late.

The No Budge Part:

Calling out regularly won't be tolerated. If you're usually late, have car problems, don't like winter driving, or have other priorities that would take precedents over our needs, please do not apply. Snow removal (espeically drifts) is essential during very early morning hours in order for employees to arrive at 7:15AM and animals to be fed on time.

Attitudes, drama, or passive aggressiveness, or any type of abusive behavior (people, animals, equipment) will also not be tolerated. Team work and positive attitudes only!

The Fun Part:

This job can be part time/full time or a combination of, depending on our needs. Things will change with the seasons and we're happy to adjust hours where we can. Routines will also change so going with the flow is essential. We are a fun small team of humans who love to work hard for our farm, clients, and horses to ensure the best care we can offer. Happy to consider additional on a per project basis if you have own plowing or other equipment for use. Like most farms, the projects are never ending, there is always something to do!

Pay DOE ($15-$20/hour) with probationary period

Medical benefits and other perks offered, as well!

Not a live-in position at this time

Typically, no dogs allowed

Possible board for one horse after probationary period (if room allows and is a good fit)
