Montana Mountain Front guest ranch seeking mature, hardy, outgoing ranch hand/ wrangler for the 2019 season: early May through late September. Compensation includes: monthly salary as well as room & board. This position requires a motivated individual in good physical health who has an excellent work ethic and communication skills to happily interact with both guests, other staff and livestock.
Main responsibilities include: gathering, feeding, saddling, horses for rides; working with young or green broke horses; providing instruction and guiding trail rides; providing basic veterinary care for sick and injured horses; maintaining tack, barn area, corrals, arena, fences, trails and ranch grounds. May teach basic fly-fishing, trap shooting or take guests hiking.
Requirements: Must have extensive horse knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate is confident in working with young and green broke horses that need more training. Must be safety conscious, able to lift 85 pounds, drive vehicles with a stick shift and have clean driving record; therefore, applicants must be at least 21 years of age. The ability to run a tractor & pull a horse trailer is a plus. Experience with tools, mowers, auto engines, operating a chain saw and general construction preferred. Must be flexible, able to work productively both alone without supervision and with coworkers.
