The employee's role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis.The General Motors Corporate Development and Global M&A team responds to the needs of the organization, considering business objectives and external impacts to determine how best to deliver on corporate strategy.We apply our expertise to propel General Motors into groundbreaking areas by assessing new opportunities, supporting decision-making processes and providing thought leadership to our partners company-wide.Our focus is on flawless execution of initiatives in the following key areas:Joint Venture, Co-Development, Product Licensing, and Supply ArrangementsNew Business DevelopmentAlliance ManagementMergers, Acquisitions, and DivestituresCorporate and Regional Strategic InitiativesCorporate Development Associates work within and/or lead project teams to deliver on key corporate development initiatives that influence and set corporate strategy.Our Associates:Support transaction execution through application of strategic, financial, negotiation, and project management skillsInteract with and / or lead cross-functional teams of internal and external constituents to develop and complete transactionsManage post-transaction partner relationships to ensure proper execution of and accountability for committed deliverablesLead business case development for deals, which involves identifying andinterfacing with the appropriate internal and external stakeholdersEvaluate new business opportunitiesResearch industry and value chain dynamics and landscapesTo be successful, our Associates must:Be self-motivated, action-oriented doers unafraid to act and make decisions in ambiguous contextsLearn quickly and think critically to understand the unique set of issues, dynamics, etc. each project involvesDistill complex problems efficiently, anticipate issues, and evaluate possible solutionsLeverage sharp financial acumen and computer skills to perform fundamental financial modelling and analysisManage multiple, competing priorities, often within tight timing expectationPlan, manage and execute projects with quality and precisionEffectively delegate, influence, and indirectly manage the work of othersCommunicate clearly and concisely, while appropriately tailoring messaging to each audienceAdditional Job DescriptionQualificationsUndergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field requiredMBA preferred3-5 years of experience in business or a functional environment, with strong preference for corporate development, investment banking, or consulting experienceStrong project management experienceBackground in an automotive, engineering, or manufacturing business a plusCompensation: This position may be filled with an Associate or Sr. Associate (the median level of salary compensation for the Associate is $88,667 and Sr. Associate is $109,283).
