We are looking for a qualified cook that can effectively develop and execute a menu with a focus on nutrition, energy, mindfulness and balance for adolescent males. Rising Peak Academy is a 16 bed long-term residential program that provides young men ages 13-18 the opportunities and motivation to succeed in life while dealing with co-occurring disorders including addiction and behavioral issues.

Position Overview: This person will develop and maintain high standards of quality food production, portion control, using standard healthy recipes, and order approximate quantities of food needed to meet menu requirements. He/she will prepare all food in sufficient quantities to cover all residential requirements, timing preparation to meet schedule and food handling in accordance of recipe and of portion control to prevent food waste and assure high quality products. Cook will also provide education and guidance to residents on cooking techniques and food preparation. Please provide resume with experience.

He/she will insure care and cleanliness of equipment.

Position reports to: Residential Manager

Hours: Mon-Fri Lunch and Dinner (10-6)

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Must have knowledge of or be willing to learn about how food/nutrition contributes to the overall well-being of a person.

Prepares and directs preparation of all foods indicated on established menus provided for residents and personnel using nutrition-based recipes based on standard portion size.

Prepares food production schedules or follows those provided by dietitian or nutritionist.

Responsible for proper storage and labeling of goods including leftovers.

Participate in Quality Assurance activities and committees as assigned.

Supervises assigned patients during assigned cooking and cleanup duty.

Checks equipment and cooking area often to make sure they maintain safety and sanitation requirements.

Assist in menu planning, place orders for weekly purchases such as dairy products, bakery products, and produce.

Must be self-motivated and driven to plan ahead and adhere to the menu, serving meals on time.

Must be able to read a recipe and make adjustments in order to prepare meals for up to 25 people.

Be aware of student dietary needs, exclusions, allergies, and strictly adhere to them.

Orders all food for facility

Provides therapeutic diets as directed by physician

Performs related duties as required.

Working Environment:

Works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated residential kitchen and dining room

Qualifications and Experience:

One-year training and experience in quantity food preparation

Must be able to read, write, make simple calculations and follow written and oral instructions.

Must have some formal on the job training in food preparation, cooking, estimating quantities of food needs storage of food and supplies, general kitchen management, requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.

Must demonstrate an aptitude for empathy with residence.

If in recovery, must have at least one year of sobriety/abstinence

Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing

Should possess high energy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively.

A valid driver's license and the ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary.

Certifications and Requirements:

Basic First Aid/CPR (can be attained after hire)
