Opportunity:

This position, in collaboration with our Safety Advisory Committee, is responsible for developing, administering and managing our health and safety programs and policies, coordinating safety activities, such as job site safety plans, toolbox talks, training, and complying with local, state, federal laws and industry standards and requirements that relate to the safety of our work.

The Health and Safety Administrator will lead and hold regular meetings with individual office Health and Safety Coordinators to ensure the policies and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Program are being implemented and followed, and will provide leadership, training and mentoring to the Health and Safety Coordinators.

The Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for representing the company in a professional manner while adhering to the Morrison-Maierle Core Values.

Specific responsibilities include:

Encourage and lead a behavior-based safety-first culture with all staff through the delivery of innovative solutions and effective communication.

Develop and conduct safety training for new hires, and ongoing safety training for existing employees.

Develop, organize and implement safety related programs that meet or exceed company safety standards. This includes the ability to make independent judgments concerning the general safety of our work and effective program implementation.

Perform safety audits and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.

Maintain the Emergency Response Plan and ensure compliance with necessary drills and exercises.

Ensure incident investigations are conducted and assists in reporting and identifying corrective actions.

Build processes, procedures and communications, and partner with managers and employee-owners in developing, managing and sustaining an incident-free business environment based on identified risks.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and required client standards (including OSHA, MSHA, etc.)

Assist Operations Managers and Office Health and Safety Coordinators in implementing the Health and Safety Program, including defining hazardous operations, designing safe practices, and assisting in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.

Review company’s OSHA recordable injuries, if any, with the Operations Managers and Supervisors.

Assist Human Resources and Project Managers with completing safety questionnaires for current and potential projects.

Assist Human Resources with Workers Compensation and OSHA reporting requirements.

Maintain company safety related information in safety data clearinghouses, such as ISNetWorld and BROWZ.

Report to Senior Leadership Team on safety progress and metrics.

Maintain safety files and training records.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction or related safety environment. Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and other state and federal agency guidelines. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

First Aid / CPR Certification required, and First aid / CPR Trainer preferred.

Must be service oriented and be excited to work in a team environment. Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with employees, managers, vendors, and clients. Highly effective communication skills, including written and verbal, as well as presentation skills. Ability to teach, mentor, and lead. Positive attitude and professional bearing. Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and follow-through skills. The ability to monitor and prioritize work to meet demanding deadlines. Strong organizational skills and aptitude for detail.

This position will require periodic travel to Morrison-Maierle offices and at times may be asked to travel to project sites and other venues. Must have a valid driver license and insurable driving record.

Salary $45,000 - $70,000, based on experience

Location Any Morrison-Maierle office location will be considered
