The Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research (ITRR) at the University of Montana is currently looking for a reliable individual to conduct skier surveys and counts at Discovery Ski Area during the 2018-2019 ski season. Job specific training will occur in early to mid-December. Each month (December-March), the selected individual will be assigned 2 weekdays and 2 weekend days in which to spend 9 hours surveying and/or counting skiers. Selected individual must have availability during week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Specific dates within each month are negotiable. The ideal candidate will live within commuting distance of Discovery. The position involves: 1) talking to both nonresidents and Montana residents about their ski experiences and recording the data on a tablet (provided); 2) collecting proportion counts (resident vs nonresident) at the resort's primary chair lift; 3) uploading survey and count data after each shift; 4) submitting hours worked via e-mail; 5) being able to work independently with little direct supervision.

Salary is $18/hour.

Applicants must have a valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and be willing to drive to selected resort, in winter conditions. Internet access (wireless preferred) is required for uploading of data after each shift and bi-weekly paperwork submission. ITRR is willing to create a flexible schedule for the right applicant.
