The person is responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal and BD safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures. The person will ensure compliance with all BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Responsible to ensure safety amongst associates in the facility relating to chemical, weather, environmental, machine safety or ergonomics.
- Values safety for yourself and others around you.
- Provide oversight and direction for day-to-day compliance with applicable air, hazardous waste, wastewater and storm water permits, plans, regulations, etc.
- Ability to interpret environmental laws and permit requirements, stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape and analyze the various options for complying with new regulations and permit requirements.
- Conduct IH testing as needed/required Provide training for associates to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements
- Lead plant in maintaining ISO 14001 certification and ensuring continued compliance.
- Ensure all work performed complies with all environmental and hazardous waste procedures, plans, policies and requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Implement processes to comply with the obligations of the permits, plans and regulations, ensure that the processes are operational and effective.
- Coordinate the reporting and recordkeeping activities for facility’s permits and other environmental regulatory reporting requirements and Corporate sustainability data tracking requirements.
- Update, maintain and implement site HazMat Contingency Plan and provide support with maintaining the site’s Business Continuity Plan.
- Provide oversite and guidance for permitting and implementation of environmental regulations on various new or developing projects
- Update and deliver environmental training programs as required to ensure compliance with regulations and permits
- Interface with Environmental Regulatory Agencies, Corporate environmental health and safety leadership & lead inspections and audits.
- Maintain and update Hazardous Waste Management program.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing operation.
- BS degree in Environmental, Chemical or Biosystems Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience leading EHS issues.
- Experience in managing/handling environmental compliance including reporting and record keeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, regulatory reviews.
- Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications preferred.
- Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in ISO14001 compliance preferred

- Quality Management Systems knowledge (QSR and ISO)
