Title: Transportation Coordinator

Location: Crete, NE

Duration: 18 Months

Job Description: This Position involves timely scheduling and tendering of outbound freight in accordance with customer delivery demands, corporate sales targets, and product supply availability. Responsibilities will include working with client corporate supply chain representatives, 3rd party carriers, client Distribution centers, sister client production plants, and customer distribution centers to ensure client products are delivered to meet customer demand. Responsible for the selection and management of "least cost" carriers on outbound loads. Responsible for scheduling and tracking outbound/inbound loads to ensure On-Time delivery. Responsible for capturing and documenting appropriate reason codes on customer's delivery information. Assist Transportation Manager with on time reporting, and other reporting functions as assigned. style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Freight Covered Every Day (Exceed client on-time pick-up and delivery expectations; proactive analysis to prevent service failures, schedule orders for the best possible product fill rate)
  • Carrier Relationship (Consistent and professional communications, Accessorial approval based on business rules, cover loads, handling and management of difficult situations, etc.)
  • Customer Relationship (Consistent and professional communications; effective, prompt and courteous communications with respect to difficult situations, relaying service failures, etc.)
  • Financial Procedures and Operating Metrics (Detention management, benchmark rate achievement, automation objectives, expedite decisions and cost, etc.)

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (List job duties which may be important to the performance of the job, but are not principal job functions).
  • Contact carrier to obtain status of load-tendered; continue monitoring the shipment via provided systems for on-time pick-up, transit, and delivery. Monitor shipments for on time delivery and revise/communicate when necessary based on changing needs of the shipper, customer, and/or carrier.
  • Tendering loads to carriers while ensuring automated or manual routing guide assignment/tender acceptance in Standard Routing Guide (SRG).
  • Notify appropriate groups of any product supply issues, and work with ORM and Operations Planning group to resolve issues to maintain customer satisfaction and on time delivery.
  • Appointment Scheduling/Schedule appointments with shipper and/or receiver, update the TMS/SAP/WMS as needed.
  • Consolidate customer orders into full truckloads when necessary.
  • Review and correct EDI 214 errors.
  • Manage and process customer returns.
  • Correspond with carrier regarding detention and other accessorial information and provide approval or denial based on business rules.
  • Actively manage on-time performance and fill rate through proper reason code application and reason code monthly clean up.
  • Additional Responsibilities Regarding Customer and Carrier Relationships.
  • Request EDI set-up on newly contracted carriers and set-up Carrier Portal log-ins.
  • Lead training sessions for Carrier Contacts as necessary on Carrier Portal.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience (Years/Type): 2+ years in Customer Service in a manufacturing or transportation environment.

Skills: Multi-tasking
  • Ability to work fluently in Web-based Systems: SAP, Microsoft Excel, etc
