- Assesses patient and family needs. Incorporates standards of care and nursing diagnosis to include both observation and body system assessment.
- Uses the nursing process to provide continuum of care based on observation and documentation.
- Collaborates with patient, family, multidisciplinary team, in assessing care needs.
- Collaborates with patient, family, and multidisciplinary team to plan age specific care across the continuum.
- Includes problem solving, planning for care, and education as needed to prevent adverse outcomes.
- Evaluates patient/family response to care, education and multidisciplinary interventions.
- Evaluates progress toward defined goals/outcomes, and revises goals/interventions as needed.
- Responds to changes in patient condition utilizing accepted principles of nursing practice.
- Follows up on internal customer concerns according to policy and utilizing best practice.

- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Graduate of a school of registered nursing acknowledged by the State of Nebraska Department of Human Services, Division of Regulation and Licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within 5 years of hire date/effective date for all hired into this role after June 1, 2014.
- Active Nebraska (or multi-state compact) Registered Nurse License.
- Kansas Registered Nurse License required within 3 months of hire.
- Individual is responsible to maintain a current nursing license.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required.
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etc.) Instructor preferred.
- PALS required
- NRP required within three months of hire.
- CFRN and/or CCRN required after two years of employment.
- TNATC (or ATLS audit) required within one year of hire.
- EMT required within one year of hire.
- Three years critical care/ER experience required.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in physically demanding situations requiring frequent bending and position changes in small areas as well as lifting and transferring of patients and equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely under stressful situations as they relate to patient care in the critical care transport environment.
- Ability to wear required flight helmet for extended periods of time with and without night vision goggles.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.
- Ability to see and hear in order to perform assessment duties.
- Keyboarding skills required.
- Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively work with employees, visitors and customers.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work.
