Join us as we digitally connect the world and shape the future.The RoleAs an Operations Technician II at Lumen you will need a strong technical skill level working on complex assignments within the Lumen Transport Network 24x7 fast-paced heavy-workload environment. You will perform varies tasks of moderate to High Level complexity requiring the application of standard procedures and criteria. The Operations Technician II will be responsible for troubleshooting problems of network equipment and circuits. This includes the fiber, transport equipment and all critical infrastructures. You must demonstrate a degree of experience maintenance & testing, test equipment, telecommunication equipment outside plant network in a given geographic boundary, including metro and long-haul fibers. Experience with layer 3 routing and layer 2 switches are a must for this role. Experience with Transport, MOP, Network Operations Centers, SONET, and DWDM all a plus.LocationThis is a work from home position within the U.S.The Main Responsibilities

Monitors and maintains the Lumen Transport Network. Opens trouble tickets and works the repair of network equipment and facilities with field operations, next level support and off-net providers.

Knows equipment-specific maintenance procedures and can assist field ops in card swaps and equipment restoral.

Takes the lead in driving equipment and facility repair.

Knows transport network topology and can make final go/no-go decisions on maintenance activities based on current network status.

Analyzes network events and identifies critical issues, setting appropriate priorities to maintain network reliability.

Able to follow MOPs, anticipate problems, and take corrective action proactively.

Has a thorough understanding of transport networks and Lumen repair procedures.

Able to work with minimal supervision in a customer service, call center environment.

Self-initiative and excellent communication skills.

Expert in SONET, SDH, and DWDM equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of transport network operations centers processes and tools.

Experience with Cisco, ALU, Meraki, Versa, Fortinet - to name a few

CompensationThe starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location.
