MAJOR FUNCTION: The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.

Maintains records as required by OSHA for mobile equipment, hoist inspections and lockout/tagout processes.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities. Including mobile equipment (forklifts) and welding equipment.

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Maintains a spare parts inventory.

Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill and mill, to repair or fabricate machine parts, fixtures and tools, i.e. work tables.

Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Identify and apply Lean methodologies to ensure processes are scientifically controlled and continuously improved.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma, GED, or similar required. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical, mechanical and plumbing fields.
