We are looking for enthusiastic and driven finish carpenter to install windows and doors as well as work on other home improvement projects.
The ideal candidate is an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail, who will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. If you are a finish carpenter looking for consistent work year round, then this is the job for you!
The primary role for finish carpenters is installing doors, windows, and other carpentry projects, to the correct scale and dimensions.
If working on a renovation project, finish carpenters dismantle and demolish designated items before carrying out repairs or inputting new materials. Finishing carpenters work from sketches and drawings, as well as verbal and written descriptions of whats required, to complete the job to the right specifications.
The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cut, shape, and assemble wood, composition, and/or plastic sections with shop tools and equipment such as planers, jointers, shaper, routers, sanders, various power saws and power tools.
Assemble prepared components for various structures.
Prepare structures for finish applications by planning, shaping and sanding; using hand and power tools.
Read and interpret plans, sketches, and shop drawings.
Prepare materials estimates as directed by the local operation manager.
Determine type and dimensions of wood stock to be used.
Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
May perform work of carpenter as assigned.
May direct work of helpers as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Two years of experience as finish carpenter.
Knowledge of shop practices and skill in using shop tools and equipment.
Skill in window and door installation.
Must have an eye for Trim work. Jams and Casings especially important.
Ability to read blueprints and translate into fabricated products.
Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform related duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy lifting.
Must have your own tools.
Valid motor vehicle operators license if required.
Must be willing to travel between Omaha and Lincoln frequently, with occasional trips to Woodriver and Northplatte.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Willingness to keep informed of new materials and methods in this trade.
Experience with Pergolas, Patio products, porches, decks and sunrooms.
Able to shift between working alone and with a team as needed.
