- Client Facing Technical Support – Partners with the Managed Services Account Management team, interfacing directly with Sirius Managed Services clients. Builds trusted advisor relationships, understanding clients’ business challenges and proposing solutions to complex situations
- Client facing work will include but is not limited to:
- Researching current and emerging technologies within the IBM Z platform, evaluating trends, identifying optional alternatives, making recommendations and presenting to client management
- Developing High Level Designs and Architectures – Creates and documents architectures that address client business problems that can be leveraged to ensure a smooth and/or seamless transition to implementation
- Mentors and coordinates other mainframe engineers to apply background expertise toward analyzing and enhancing client parallel SYSPLEX configurations and z/OS technical support
- Administrative Overhead – Responds to email, phone calls in a timely manner, completes time reporting measures, expense reports and status reports as required
- Training – Develops and executes a professional plan that will enhance skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
- At least 5 years of IT engineering experience dealing with IBM Z infrastructure solutions with a specific focus upon parallel SYSPLEX configurations, including five (5) years of experience with large enterprise clients that have a mainframe platform
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical background and knowledge to business direction by developing technical solutions to complex mainframe environments and presenting corresponding benefits and disadvantages in a logical and readily identifiable manner
- Demonstrate ability to drive successful resolution to large enterprise IBM Z clients sequencing approaches and associated execution to the client to earn trust and enhance customer satisfaction
- Proven experience articulating technical viewpoints to diverse audiences, including technical and business decision makers
- Proven ability to evaluate information and make sound technical risk judgements
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and to prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop longer-range project plans and schedules to complete complex projects or new solution development and deployment
- Demonstrated ability to perform technical skills/knowledge transfer to peers and client as needed
- Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Demonstrated leadership, delegation and personnel management skills
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, including formal and informal presentations to large and small audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Technical writing experience
- Prior team leadership and/or mentorship or similar level experience in an enterprise IT environment
- Prior experience leading technical teams in a client or consulting project environment
- Demonstrated experience in supporting multi-million dollar enterprise-size complex initiatives
- Ten (10) or more years of IT engineering experience dealing with IBM Z infrastructure solutions
