You could take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful Construction/Contractor company, through Robert Half Finance's new Controller opportunity. The full-time Controller position is situated in the West Omaha, Nebraska area. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. If your ideal job offers you exceptional compensation and benefits and potential for career growth, this is a good fit!Key responsibilitiesSupport Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Percentage of Completion experience

Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

Vow to meet business deadlines

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

Deep understanding of Construction Accounting

Construction Industry Experience experience preferred

Construction project accounting experience preferred

Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Accounting

Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
