This position can work out of our San Bernardino-CA, San Diego-CA, and Las Vegas-NV offices. Be involved in projects with our Southwest Civil Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.Your ImpactDesignDirect a segment of a major project, and participate in the development and application of concepts and techniques.

Perform design duties using applicable design software packages.

Determine client requirements.

Plan, organize, and supervise engineering activities for a major project, two or more projects of significant size and complexity or several projects of moderate size and complexity.

Collaborate with management to determine long-range plans and objectives, including recommendations on project staffing, evaluating and mentoring of subordinate staff.

May function as project manager on appropriate projects.

Seek to identify and implement improved technical solutions throughout final design.

Guide design teams to achieve overall project objectives.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate staffing levels needed for projects.

Be proactive in driving safety and ensure that health, safety, environment and security requirements are properly considered and included at all stages of the design process.

MarketingCoordinate with various Las Vegas clients to obtain project and opportunity leads.

Take an active role as pursuit manager on opportunities to lead the proposal and interview preparation.

AnalyticsAnalyze complex problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques.

Prepare and/or oversee plans, specifications, estimates and/or bid packages.

Perform quality assurance/quality control, ensuring that cost, schedule, and quality objectives are met for engineering activities and are commensurate with quality standards, client requirements, and corporate objectives.

Maintain schedule, budget, and profitability or assigned projects.

May approve and sign off on work.

Manage the responses to design requests for information (RFIs).

CollaborationDiscuss and propose solutions with project teams in order to solve technical issues.

Attend and participate in project team meetings.

Represent respective projects at meetings and conferences.

Support business development initiatives and assist with marketing.

Coordinate and communicate with other design disciplines and office locations throughout the development process.

Direct client interaction.

Mentor and develop multi-disciplined staff.

Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of staff-level engineers.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Other duties as required by business needs.

Who You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and civil design.

Professional Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).

Highly proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including project involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and reconstruction, new design, and construction projects.

Strong knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies.

Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.

Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Experience with local DOT, municipal or county projects.
