The Lead Dental Assistant is responsible for the development of the other back office Dental Assistants the office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 All duties performed by Dental Assistant

 Order and maintain the dental supplies (All orders must be approved by the OM prior to

placing an order).

 Efficiently work with doctors, other dental assistants in the back office to ensure efficient

patient flow according to the daily scheduling demands.

 Ensure that all lab cases are ready and pulled for the following day schedule.

 Assist in the efficient transition of new doctors and/or dental assistants to ensure better

acclamation to the back office.

 Train back office dental assistants on proper chairside assisting.

 Ensure proper dental assistant coverage in the office including specialist days and/or to cover

vacations.

 Should lead by example and look to build efficiency in regular patient flow.

 Responsible for the maintenance of emergency kits and first aid supplies in the office to

ensure that they are stocked properly and up to date.

 Properly follow maintenance schedule for the processor, autoclave, compressor etc. on a

weekly basis and schedule coverage accordingly to allow the time to do this!

 Identify, report and follow up as necessary on any maintenance issues in the office including

dental equipment, hand pieces, hand piece log.

 Ensure that MSDS sheets are up to date.

 Ensure that the clinical staff is following OSHA regulations and safety requirements.

Additionally, needs to ensure that the clinical staff is compliant with HIPPA guidelines and take

corrective action with the support of management if necessary.

 Recognize signs of dental emergency, and insure proper and timely response and notification

to patient, staff, and emergency medical personnel when necessary.

 Ensure that dental assistants are adhering to company policies i.e. uniform attire and code of

conduct.

 Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager
